Coates and Wood Sculpture Foundry specialize in moulding and casting in bronze or aluminium works for Australian and International artists.

We have become one of the country’s leading sculpture foundries and will undertake work in any scale- from 50mm to ten metres.

Our foundry is located in Northcote, five kilometres from Melbourne’s CBD.

We employ the lost-wax process, whereby a wax positive is made and then encased in a refractory mould before being burnt-out (lost). The molten metal is then poured into this heat resistant mould and the cast complete. Whether you want us to undertake all or only part of the process, we accommodate artists needs through consultation helping people to realize their projects with ‘how to’ advice finding solutions for difficult designs.

Our foundry is managed by artists qualified at a tertiary level and who continue to practice their own work professionally. This means we understand artists’ requirements and can talk through the process of translating their work into bronze or another metal.
